We're on the lookout for members to contribute to the MDU journal. By writing for us about the issues that make a difference to you, you can share your experiences and expertise with an audience of your peers.
Is there a particular medico-legal topic you're qualified in and want to talk about? Perhaps there are ethical issues about clinical practice you'd like to explore, or aspects of the medical profession that you feel might raise issues around doctors' health and well-being.
Or maybe the MDU's helped you through a complaint or a claim and you want to let others know what happened. Members' case studies like those in our annual Cautionary Tales allow doctors to be better prepared and informed about the process, especially if they've not been through it themselves.
Why write for us?
Our team of experts are perfectly placed to offer guidance and advice on a range of medico-legal topics, but we've had lots of fantastic content from others as well and we'd love to expand on that. By writing for us, you can help make the journal even more helpful to you and your peers by focusing on the issues that matter to you.
Earlier this year Dr Nia Wyn Davis shared her reflections of her time as a patient and how she applied that to her own work as a doctor. And in one of our most popular articles to date, an MDU member related their experience of going through a GMC investigation and its impact on his career.
We've also had articles written by experts in their fields on topics as varied as doctors' occupational mental health, the impact of adverse incidents on surgeons, and on the influence of Montgomery vs Lanarkshire Health Board.
Get in touch
Our focus is on medico-legal and ethical issues rather than clinical ones, so it's worth bearing this in mind. But we welcome any ideas for content that you think would be appreciated by fellow members.
