The issue of doctors' mental health and wellbeing has always been an important issue, but has been highlighted even more by the added pressures imposed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Few people are perhaps better placed to offer words of advice on the topic than Professor Dame Clare Gerada, general practitioner, former chair of the RCGP, founder of the Practitioner Health Programme, chair of the charity Doctors in Distress and author of 'Beneath the White Coat: Doctors, Their Minds and Mental Health'.
To discuss the issues raised in her new book, Clare spoke to the MDU's deputy head of advisory services Dr Catherine Wills about the work done by Doctors in Distress and the wider issues associated with managing healthcare professionals' mental health.
